Feversham was returned to Parliament as one of four representatives for Yorkshire in 1826, a seat he held until 1832. He was later Member of Parliament for the North Riding of Yorkshire between 1832 and 1841. The latter year he succeeded his father in the barony and took his seat in the House of Lords.
Lord Feversham married Lady Louisa, daughter of Admiral George Stewart, 8th Earl of Galloway, in 1823. They had several children. He died in February 1867, aged 69, and was succeeded by his son, William, who was created Earl of Feversham the following year. Lady Feversham died in March 1889.
